Blackdown is a high quality recording, mixing, and production facility conceived and directed by two people with a strong background in musical performance and writing, as well as recording. As a hub for artists, songwriters and bands, we do our best to understand their creative direction and to enable them to realise their own ideas. We can involve ourselves in the creative process as much or as little as the artist or project requires. In the past we have been commissioned for remixing, part writing, and the producing of bands or artists. Our range of equipment and facilities make it suitable for many types of audio work:
- Band recording
- Jazz recording
- Vocal recording & voice-over
- Overdubs / remote session work
- Electronic production (see equipment for more details)
- Audio editing
- Film Scoring
- Audio restoration
- Location recording (ask for details and pricing)
We also have a good local network of session musicians, so please ask if you are looking for players, parts, or even complete pieces to be composed/recorded.
Our normal working hours here at Blackdown studio are 11am until 7pm, seven days a week, however due to the nature of recording music, we remain flexible and can work late if required. This includes setup and pack down though for multiple-day sessions you will not be required to pack away.
Recording and Mixing
Blackdown rates include an engineer and full use of the facility. Rates for tracking and mixing are the same and a slow-burn CD and listening copy will be supplied. Multiple day rates are negotiable and we will try our best to work to your budget. Please contact for details.
Daily rate – £275.00
Hourly rate – £45.00
The facility is also available for the use of producers or engineers. Please contact us for details and rates.
We also offer a mastering service for material recorded both at Blackdown and elsewhere. For this, we charge the same hourly rate as for our tracking and mixing services.
